Breastfeeding Essentials Breastfeeding Moms Group Facilitator Operations Coordinator Music Around the World Jan is an accredited La Leche League Leader and Breastfeeding Counselor who has spent over 10 years supporting nursing moms and studying lactation. Her passion for supporting a great start for families and children, as well as her love of music and languages also led her to become trained to teach Music Around the World classes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers and their caregivers. She finds these classes to be a fun and research-based approach to encouraging little ones' development. She is also a mother of three, who has first-hand experience with many common breastfeeding “roadblocks” and the complexity, support, and flexibility needed to work through them in whatever way each mom can. Her own experiences and connection with La Leche led her to pursue deeper training to further help moms and babies, and she has attended a variety of continuing education seminars by such luminaries as Thomas Hale, MD, William Sears, MD, Jack Newman, MD, Kathleen Kendall-Tackett, PhD, IBCLC, and Nancy Mohrbacher, IBCLC and renowned author, among others. Combining the science with first-hand experience from supporting so many nursing moms, Jan brings a compassionate and research-based approach to helping others learn the art of breastfeeding. Because she feels so passionately about the many benefits of breastfeeding beyond nutrition, she is eager to help new parents begin a successful breastfeeding relationship. Jan’s overall goal is to help expectant parents feel confident and hopeful about their new roles, and not feel too bogged down in details and technicalities. She loves to pass along all the tools and tips she can to new families, AND stresses that breastfeeding science is based on guidelines, rather than rules, so each family will find their own best path. Jan is thrilled to be a part of the Harmony team, to support parents in that process. |
