Kristin Milner Evans
Founder, Owner
Birthing From Within Instructor
Kristin's passion and purpose is supporting and empowering peopleat the individual, community, and larger levels.
She created Harmony to help women and families find what they seek as they start and grow their family -- to enhance the foundation of health, peace, and power at the core of each family, which may, in turn, cultivate loving and courageous citizens of the world.
Especially during pregnancy and early parenting, the positive effects of
- friends and community,
- individualized nurturing attention, and
- nonjudgmental support and information
on the emotional and physical health of women and families are well documented in the research -- and their impact on the physiological and social development of a child cannot be overstated.
Kristin's goal is to help women and families find these resources in every big and small thing they do at Harmony -- through yoga, massage, birth & family classes, support networks, events, and groups -- and to become more in touch with their own inner voice throughout the process.
Kristin believes deeply in the innate strength, wisdom, and right of each person to connect with their own best path.
It is her experience that there are more than enough forces in society pushing and pulling individuals and parents in a direction chosen according to other's interests. Her focus and intention is that Harmony serve as a place where thoughtful families can be exposed to their many options and be fully supported in making the decisions that feel right for them at each step of their journey.
Kristin received her bachelor's degree (BA) in Psychology from Miami University, Oxford Ohio, with a focus on child and adolescent development, during and after which she worked in crisis counseling, advocacy, and prevention education around the issues of sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence.
Kristin received her certification as a Birth Doula from Doulas Of North America (DONA) in 2002, as well as certification as a childbirth eductor from International Childbirth Educator Association (ICEA) and Birthing From Within.
She helped to found Bay Area Birth Information (BABI) and served as President of their Board of Directors from 2003-2006. She was on staff at Blossom Birth Services, in Palo Alto, between 2001-2005, and is a member of the South Bay and Peninsula Birth Circles.
