Sonya Padron
Prenatal Yoga
Yoga for Fertility

Sonya's warm, cheerful personality comes through in everything she does, including her yoga teaching, Birth doula work, and Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counseling.

She blends a rich background in the hard sciences with a concentration in Near Eastern and Buddhist studies. While earning her Bachelor's degree in Aggricultural & Biological Engineering and Master's in Biological & Environmental Engineering from Cornell University, she also studied the classical texts, histories, and migration of Eastern religions.

Sonya's yoga studies began with the gentle svaroopa style of yoga in 2001, when, during her graduate studies, she became extremely ill. After months of failed medical attempts to diagnose and treat the source, she was prescribed a regiment of yoga and pranayama which slowly, successfully nursed her back to health.

With improved health, she returned to California in 2004, working as an environmental educator for the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District, and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary where she also runs the multicultural MERITO Academy for local 5th-8th grade youth.

The power and potential of yoga simultaneously drew her to further study, in the tradition of B.K.S Iyengar, with Juliet Heizman and Kofi Busia in Santa Cruz and Naomi Reynolds in San Jose. She then pursued deeper formal teacher training from the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco.

Sonya's Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor Training is through the College of Ayurveda at the Mount Madonna Institute, and her Doula training is through BirthWiseTM.

She is honored to join the team at Harmony, helping women experience the healing and strengthening properties of yoga for general wellness, fertility, pregnancy, and motherhood.
